This proposal was developed to determine the amount of solid waste generated in an automotive clothing manufacturing industry. Measuring and understanding the amount of waste is critical due to the various issues it causes, including economic, labor, time, legal, and ecological concerns, among others. Additionally, waste generation can be prevented and/or reduced. According to SEMARNAT, the state of Chihuahua ranked among the top ten states in waste generation in 2020, with Ciudad Juárez being a major contributor, especially from the Nogalera, wood, and manufacturing industries. For this study, the Extend simulation tool was used to create a dynamic model that virtually represented the plant's production without affecting the actual manufacturing process. The simulation focused on the automotive clothing manufacturing process, specifically the cutting area, to estimate solid waste generation. Key variables such as fabric usage and the amount of automotive clothing produced over time were considered across three different models. The results closely matched real-world data, allowing for the prediction of solid waste generation and enabling the planning of proper disposal solutions.
