Reporting service integrated in a web application for timely business decision making

Abstract

A report, as defined by Economipedia (2022), is "a document whose purpose is to communicate a set of information collected and previously analyzed according to certain criteria." This report compiles and analyzes information and historical facts gathered by the management area of companies, providing relevant data and answers that help resolve conflicts or undesirable situations, enabling informed decisions for effective administrative functioning. According to PiktoChart (2021), more than 90% of analysis and business professionals agree that analyzing collected data is crucial for formulating initiatives in the digital transformation of any company or institution. Without presenting data effectively through detailed reports, such transformation is rendered ineffective.

This work presents the development of an administrative system using web technology, incorporating reports from key administrative areas, particularly focusing on the financial aspects of a company in Veracruz, Mexico. The company, dedicated to the commercialization of agricultural products, polishers, and scales, has significant lag in administrative control of income and expenses, updating inventories, and capturing data in real time. The proposed system aims to address these gaps and support better decision-making processes.
