Abstract

The Guerchet methodology is a fundamental tool for ergonomic analysis and workspace optimization in industrial environments. This study applies the methodology to a conventional Welding Workshop with the purpose of establishing a standardized proposal that enhances spatial distribution, operational efficiency, and ergonomic conditions for personnel. The research evaluates occupancy, storage, and circulation coefficients based on the principles proposed by Guerchet (1975), allowing the identification of critical areas and improvement opportunities. The results show that an optimized spatial layout reduces unnecessary movements and improves workplace safety—key aspects in welding processes. This approach promotes the integration of ergonomics into the design of technical workshops, contributing to more efficient resource management and operator well-being (Fernández & Gómez, 2018; García & López, 2020). Finally, the standardized proposal aims to serve as a reference for future implementations in similar environments, fostering the adoption of scientific criteria in industrial space planning.
