Abstract

Information systems are developed for different purposes, depending on the needs of the human users and the business. Management information systems produce information that is used in the decision-making process. The development of an information system in a web environment for the business processes of a company or institution is currently indispensable and for the Institute for the Promotion of Handicrafts of Tabasco (IFAT) is no different. The objective was to create a system to analyze the information on the processes of buying and selling of handicraft products created by Tabasco artisans.

To achieve this, several interviews were conducted to identify the needs directly from the personnel involved. After identifying the needs, the requirements were obtained through the application of methodologies and techniques of analysis and design. Subsequently, the necessary modules were developed, tested and the system was deployed. The final result was a functional tool that met the agency's requirements.

A web development framework was chosen for the development of the modules. It was decided to use the Yii[2] framework in its 2.0 version, which is based on the PHP[3] server-side programming language, whose version used is 8.0. For the user interface design, the Bootstrap[4] framework in its 5.3 version was used, which allows the interfaces to be accessible from any device with an Internet connection. The database is relational[5] and the database management system is MariaDB[6].
