Abstract

The objective of this research was the design of educational software using the gamification technique (SETGAM) designed to strengthen the learning of arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction and multiplication) in basic education students, in addition to the development of an instrument to evaluate the software. The educational software presents graphical user interface design with playful activities and colorful and intuitive scenarios designed with the usability of the software in mind. The methodology used for software development was the Iterative evolutionary model (prototype) with four stages of the software development life cycle: specification, design and implementation, validation and evolution of the software. The methodology of the instrument consists of a questionnaire designed under the Likert scale and is structured in five dimensions to evaluate educational software (educational, content, human-computer interface, functionality and accessibility). The type of research used was qualitative. A questionnaire with a Likert scale design was implemented with 24 third, fourth and fifth year primary school students. The results were subsequently analyzed using SPSS version 28 software and its statistical interpretation.

A pilot test was applied with 24 students to validate the reliability of the satisfaction measurement instrument of the SETGAM software by determining the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, using SPSS version 20 software and its statistical interpretation. The test results showed a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient value of .807, which confirms the validity and reliability of the instrument.
