Development of the health safety management system: Technological Institute Of Ciudad Juarez

Abstract

In response to the COVID-19 contingency, the Technological Institute of Ciudad Juárez (ITCJ) City of Knowledge extension set the goal of implementing a Health Security Management System (SGSS). To achieve this, the self-diagnostic tool known as Toolbox was used. The results from the tool allowed the identification of critical points within the institute, leading to the development of an appropriate action plan based on General Measures for Health Promotion, health security, and the work scheme for the return to in-person activities, all aimed at safeguarding the health of the community.

The implementation and continuous improvement of the SGSS facilitated a gradual return to face-to-face activities under a safe work scheme. As a result, 100% of the technological community received training, and 75% of the installed capacity was operational. Suspected and confirmed cases were reduced to 0%. The semester concluded with 80% of students achieving competency, 20% not meeting competency requirements, and 14% of students leaving due to personal issues caused by the pandemic.
