Abstract

The augmented reality mobile application for learning about nursing surgical instruments is specifically designed to teach adolescents (mainly students) about nursing surgical tools in order to assist in the acquisition and reinforcement of their professional technical skills.

The application is designed to facilitate the interaction of end users through an easy-to-use and accessible user interface. The technologies used for the development of the augmented reality mobile application are the Vuforia and Unity 3D software, which seek to combine innovative technology with interactive educational methods to improve learning in a digital environment.

Author Biographies

Victor Manuel Arias Peregrino, National Technological Institute of Mexico

Doctor in Technological Development, research professor and academic at the National Technological Institute of Mexico-Villahermosa Technological Institute in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with a solid background in technological development and computing. Technical manager of the ITVIHE-CA-14 Academic Body, he has a PRODEP profile and Level I SNII certification. He actively participates in thesis supervision, research projects and national academic networks at TecNM.
Areas of interest: Databases, IoT, Data Science, Emerging Technologies and Software Development.

Mayra Hernández Oramas, National Technological Institute of Mexico

Doctor in Computer Systems, academic researcher at the National Technological Institute of Mexico-Higher Technological Institute of Macuspana. Head of the Academic Body for Technological Development and Sustainability, she has extensive experience in technological development and innovation through research. Her work is characterised by the application of technology and software development in the development of solutions focused on the education, health and environment sectors. She actively participates in national academic networks at TecNM.

Julio César Romellón Cerino, National Technological Institute of Mexico

Doctorate in Technological Development from Descartes University of Science and Technology. Full-time lecturer at the National Technological Institute of Mexico (TecNM) – Villahermosa Technological Institute. Areas of interest: Quality engineering, technological research in environmental care, social and solidarity economy, and sustainable community tourism. Member of the ITVIHE-CA-14 Academic Body and has a PRODEP profile.

Jorge Cein Villanueva Guzmán, National Technological Institute of Mexico


Professor-Researcher at the National Technological Institute of Mexico-Villahermosa Technological Institute. Doctorate in Technological Development from the Descartes University of Science and Technology in 2020. Since 2009, he has been teaching at the Technological Institute of Villahermosa in the area of Systems and Computing. His current areas of research are multidisciplinary: Web and mobile application development, embedded systems development, IoT, cloud computing, and development and implementation of new technologies in projects related to the strategic areas of the National Technological Institute of Mexico.
