Policy for the publication of advertisements or commercial promotions
1. General Principle
IPSUMTEC does not accept or promote advertisements for commercial products, services, or brands acting as sponsors of the journal. The editorial independence and scientific integrity of the publication take precedence over any commercial interest, in accordance with the ethical principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
2. Academic and Scientific Dissemination
Notwithstanding the above, the journal recognizes the value of its pages as a means of dissemination within the academic and scientific community. Accordingly, a moderate and clearly delimited space may be allocated for the promotion of courses, workshops, conferences, seminars, and other academic events directly related to the journal's core subject matter.
3. Admission Criteria
The inclusion of such announcements is subject to the following criteria:
- Thematic relevance to the journal's editorial scope.
- Strictly academic or scientific nature of the event or activity being promoted.
- Absence of direct profit motives or ties to third-party commercial interests.
- Prior approval by the Editorial Team.
4. Editorial Separation
The dissemination of this content will be presented in spaces clearly distinguished from scientific content, in order to avoid any confusion regarding the independent editorial nature of the published articles and to preserve the journal's impartiality.
Clause on Conflicts of Interest related to Institutional Sponsorships
5. Conflicts of Interest and Institutional Sponsorships
When an institution, university, funding body, or public or private organization participates in sponsoring a special issue, event, or academic activity disseminated in the journal, such a relationship must be explicitly and transparently disclosed. This disclosure shall include the nature of the relationship (funding, co-organization, logistical support, among others) and shall be stated in the corresponding section of the publication.
6. Independence of the Editorial Process
The existence of institutional sponsorship shall not grant the sponsoring entity any form of influence over the selection process, peer review, or editorial decisions regarding manuscripts published in the journal. The Editorial Team and, where applicable, the ad hoc team of guest editors, shall retain full autonomy and independence in editorial decision-making, in accordance with the principles of scientific integrity established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
7. Editors' Declaration of Conflict of Interest
Guest editors, members of the ad hoc team, or any member of the Editorial Team who maintains an institutional, employment, financial, or personal relationship with the sponsoring entity must disclose such a conflict of interest prior to their participation in the editorial process. If a conflict is identified that could compromise the objectivity of the process, the individual concerned must refrain from participating in decisions related to the affected manuscripts.
8. Transparency Toward Readers
All information regarding institutional sponsorships, external funding, or declared conflicts of interest shall be made clearly and accessibly available to readers, either in the editorial note of the special issue or in the section allocated to the promoted activity, thereby ensuring the trust and credibility of the editorial process within the scientific community.
