Manuscript Organization

Guidelines for the Structure and Organization of Manuscripts

Manuscripts submitted to the Revista Científica IPSUMTEC must be strictly structured according to the sequential order described below:

1. INITIAL SECTION

  • Title Page: Must include the manuscript title in both Spanish and English (strict length of 10 to 14 words, incorporating indexable terms preferably selected from the UNESCO Thesaurus). Full names of authors (maximum of 5, without abbreviations), complete institutional affiliation (institution, department/faculty, and country), institutional email address, and a verified link to their ORCID profile. A single corresponding author must be designated with an asterisk (*).
  • Abstract and Resumen: Length between 200 and 300 words structured under the formal IMRC framework: [Objective], [Methodology], [Results] (must include at least one quantitative datum or specific finding), and [Conclusion]. Format: Times New Roman 10 pt, justified, single-spaced, and italicized. It is highly recommended that the English Abstract be reviewed by a certified translator.
  • Keywords / Palabras Clave: Between 4 and 6 terms arranged in alphabetical order. In Spanish, terms must be standardized under the UNESCO Thesaurus; in English, the use of the IEEE Thesaurus or MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) is suggested.
  • Introduction: Written in Times New Roman 11 pt. It must contain the background, a state-of-the-art literature review with a global scope (not merely local), a clearly delimited research problem, the theoretical-conceptual framework, justification, and measurable objectives. Priority must be given to citations from articles indexed in Web of Science (WoS) or Scopus published within the last 5 years.

2. MIDDLE SECTION

  • Materials and Methods (Methodology): Must provide sufficient detail to ensure the replicability of the study. Mandatory components: Research design, Sampling justification (sample size, sampling type, selection criteria), Instruments (specifying validity and reliability), Detailed procedure, and Data analysis (software, version, and statistical tests applied). A Generative AI Use Declaration must be included (specifying the model and version used) or its absence explicitly stated, along with a definition of the methodological limitations.
  • Results: Descriptive and logical presentation in strict alignment with the research objectives. In quantitative reports, it is mandatory to incorporate measures of dispersion (SD), Confidence Intervals (95% CI), and effect sizes. Data interpretation is not permitted in this section. Tables and figures must be editable (not screenshots), numbered sequentially, with an explanatory title and source. Images must be in high resolution (≥ 300 dpi) with a width between 8 and 15 cm.
  • Discussion: Analytical interpretation of the results, critically contrasting them with at least 3 prior international studies indexed in WoS or Scopus. Original contributions to the field must be highlighted.
  • Conclusions: Must be derived directly from the results, explicitly answer each objective, detail the practical or theoretical implications for the discipline, and suggest future lines of research.

3. FINAL SECTION

Mandatory Management Declarations:

  • Data Availability: State the status of the data and specify the open repository utilized (OSF, Zenodo, Figshare, GitHub) including its DOI/URL, or justify privacy-related restrictions.
  • Funding Source: Declare the funding entity and project grant number, or explicitly state the absence of external funding.
  • Conflict of Interest: Formally declare the presence or absence of any economic or institutional conflicts of interest.
  • Ethical Approval: Indicate the approving ethics committee and protocol number, or state "Not applicable" if no human or animal participants were involved.
  • Acknowledgments: Exclusively for professional or institutional recognition (remove this section if not applicable).
  • Bibliographic References: A minimum of 20 references formatted in IEEE Style (in order of appearance). At least 50% must be indexed in WoS or Scopus, and 60% must have a publication date of less than 5 years old. Self-citation must not exceed 10%. It is mandatory that each reference includes an active URL link or DOI identifier.
  • Supporting Information (Appendices): Supplementary material that is strictly necessary (extensive instruments, guidelines).
  • Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) Table: Mandatory for multi-authored contributions, assigning the corresponding roles under the 14 official standards of the taxonomy.
