Policy on Prior Publications and Presentations at Events
IPSUMTEC will not consider for evaluation any original research work, or substantial component thereof, that has been previously published or is simultaneously under consideration for publication in another journal or venue.
Exceptions and Clarifications
- Theses and dissertations: are not considered prior publications and, therefore, do not compromise the eligibility of a manuscript derived from them for submission to the journal.
- Preprint servers: the journal accepts research articles previously deposited on nonprofit preprint servers, such as SciELO Preprints, arXiv.org, bioRxiv.org, ChemRxiv.org, medRxiv.org, and equivalent platforms, provided that the preprint is clearly identified as a non-peer-reviewed work.
- Other forms of online distribution: dissemination of research results through other digital channels (e.g., blogs, academic social networks, institutional repositories not classified as preprint servers, among others) may be considered prior publication and may compromise the originality of the manuscript as a submission to a scientific journal.
Confidentiality During Peer Review
While a manuscript is undergoing the peer review process, it must not be published, publicly disseminated, or deposited in any venue, platform, or medium.
Press Coverage
Should press coverage related to the manuscript's content be considered, it is recommended that such dissemination take place only after the document's official publication, in order to preserve the integrity of the editorial process and avoid compromising originality.
